Our Foundation: The Example of Jesus Christ
​
​The foundation of H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S. On Wheels® and our team of Caregiving Superheroes® is the example set by Jesus Christ when He provided for His mother’s care. Even while suffering on the cross, Jesus made provision for His mother’s ongoing care by entrusting her to a disciple He loved and trusted. From that hour, the disciple welcomed her into his own home. — John 19:25–27

For us, as followers of Jesus Christ, His example carries a profound responsibility: the care of someone you love should not be entrusted to just anyone. It calls for people whose character, compassion, and dependability give you reasons to trust them.
That conviction is at the heart of our company. We believe caring for another person is more than completing a task. It means taking seriously the trust placed in us, and being attentive to each person's individual needs while honoring their dignity.

Our Family’s Legacy of Service
​
Our commitment to helping others has roots in our family’s history. In the 1970s, our founders’ father—a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War era—established Braggs Ambulance in San Diego, California, as one of the first Black-owned ambulance services in the U.S.
Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, he was cared for by one of our founders before passing away in 2007, but his example of service to others continues to inspire us. Today, we honor his legacy while also providing personal care services to his widow—Mother Jonell (one of our founders' mother, pictured below).

What Our Caregiving Journey Taught Us
​
Caring for parents taught our founders how difficult finding trustworthy and dependable assistance can be. They encountered concerns about caregiver training, honesty, and background screening. They also faced three- to four-hour service minimums that did not fit their needs because they personally provided all other aspects of care.
Those experiences shaped the vision that became H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S. On Wheels® and the Free Shower Project.
Our founders wanted to build the kind of service they had been looking for themselves—one that respects both the person receiving care and the family working hard to support them.

Personal Care Built Around Real Needs
​
Our mobile personal care services are designed to support the elderly, military veterans, and others living with health or mobility challenges. In our wheelchair-accessible hygiene trailers, our team assists with bathing, showers, shaving, mouth care, and other personal care needs.
Our self-contained approach allows us to provide that assistance without using a family’s bathroom, household supplies, water, or electricity. Our electric vehicles and solar-powered equipment also support quieter visits without relying on a gas-powered generator.
Through the Free Shower Project, we also seek to extend personal care assistance to people facing financial barriers to obtaining the help they need.
Our purpose is not simply to provide a service. It is to help someone feel cared for, respected, and supported—and to lighten the load for those caring for them.

Trust Should Be Earned
​
Before placing someone you love in anyone’s care, you deserve meaningful information about who will be assisting them. We use an extensive vetting process that includes public-record database searches and verification of professional qualifications and credentials. We also require our care team members to hold state-issued fingerprint clearance cards.
Before each appointment, we send a Mini-Bio by text message, email, or both. It includes relevant experience, certifications, and fingerprint-clearance information of the team member on the way - this helps families learn about who's coming to assist them without surprises.
We call our team Caregiving Superheroes®, but a name alone does not earn anyone’s trust. We expect that trust to be earned through honesty, attentiveness, gentleness, dependability, and respect.

Our Christian faith guides how we serve. We want that faith to be evident not only in what we say, but also in the patience we show, the dignity we protect, and the responsibility we accept.

Vision
Our vision is to provide our mobile personal care services in every city as a beacon of hope, and to lighten the load of those that are going through some of the most challenging times of their life - both the caregiver and the person needing care. We will accomplish this while simultaneously existing as a light for the Kingdom of God.
